Job Description:
1 year contract must be very strong in Oracle
Databases with SQL knowledge
Ø The
Oracle and SQL Server DBA is responsible for providing technical support for
the Cooper database environment including assessment and implementation of new
technologies, and providing Information Technology with a long-term perspective
on the relationship of database technology to the business.
Ø The
successful candidate will be able to manage a database environment that
includes multiple instances and versions of Oracle and SQL Server across
several different hardware and VM platforms in various locations.
Ø They
will be able to provide support to hundreds of instances and databases in
varying sizes and stages of Development, QA, and Production.
Ø This
candidate will work closely with hardware, architecture, application development
and other infrastructure teams to meet all current and future business
objectives and needs. They should have the ability to work closely with
all of the above teams to support a project through its entire lifecycle of
development and into production support.
Ø The
candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in both Oracle and SQL
Server database administration.
Ø They
should possess the ability to ensure successful backup and restoration of
databases, perform high-pressure troubleshooting of issues, and do performance
tuning and planning of future needs of the Cooper database infrastructure.
Ø The
successful Oracle DBA will have knowledge of Oracle running on both Unix/Linux
systems and Windows in version 10G and above. Any background in SAP
systems will be a strong plus. They should have experience with very
large online databases as well as data warehouse databases.
Ø The
candidate should have a strong knowledge and experience in the use of SQL
Server log-shipping, replication and clustering.
Ø They
should have experience with sql versions 2005, 2008 and 2008-R2 at a
minimum. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint installations would be a
plus.
In addition to standard Database Administrator job
requirements the candidate should possess these other qualifications and
experience:

Experience in the use of Quest Tools, specifically
Litespeed, Foglight, Spotlight and Performance Analysis

Experience in Microsoft System Center Operations
Manager for monitoring
·
Experience in installing and upgrading and maintaining
various versions of SQL Server and Oracle
·
Experience in performance tuning and monitoring of SQL
Server and Oracle databases
·
Ability to provide 24X7 support of critical business
systems residing on SQL Server and Oracle
·
Experience using HP/UX high availability solutions
